Computer Science | Psychology | Human Comp. Interaction
My name is Marisa DePasquale. I graduated from Stony Brook University in December 2017 with a double major in computer science and psychology.
Cognitive development intrigues me. I'm continuously searching for ways to integrate my knowledge of psychology in my code and my coding environment. People are important and so are the people I work with. Understanding how my peers and end users process information is essential for creating successful code.
I'm a dabbler. I jump around different technologies to see what the world has to offer. So far it has drawn me towards UI/UX development. I'm continously learning about good design and developing my own style. I am, however, striving to become a full stack developer.
I currently spend my time studying but outside of that I teach students how to code in Scratch,
Python, and HTML. I have worked with kids ranging from 7 to 15 and no one is too young to learn how to code. I have also
created challenges for the kids to work on depending on the lessons they've learned.
Teaching has opened my eyes to the capabilities and aspirations (or in some cases lack thereof) that children have.
I hope to carry the skills that I've learned teaching throughout every aspect in my life.
